Twenty twelve

Happy New Year!! Yes I know today is actually January 17th and no I haven't been in a coma for the last three weeks, but I have been working pretty much nonstop since Thanksgiving and it's wearing me down a bit. I was fortunate enough to have a full 49 hours off though beginning last Monday at 4pm and lasting until Wednesday at 5pm. I drove to Winter Park, CO to visit a friend where we had a perfect time drinking wine, eating salad and pizza (bacon, basil and tomato = delicious), skiing, soaking in hot springs, and frolicking in the snow at 2am on a full moon hike. Then we woke up the next morning, made french toast and coffee and I had a peaceful (and beautiful) drive home.

Since 2011 was such a whirlwind of a year I'm feeling the need to take more time to be present and reflect on things in 2012. This year I will set goals and hold myself accountable. I will be a better friend and family member and I will make time for the things that are most important. I will spend less time being hard on myself for not living up to my own expectations and spend more time laughing, dancing, learning, taking pictures, talking, listening, skiing, creating, writing, hiking, biking and generally loving life and appreciating every single day.

Wishing you a beautiful, peaceful, healthy, prosperous, joyful, exhilarating, love filled 2012. Here are a few pictures from 2011 that I never posted. Enjoy!

Where does the road go? Straight up the cliff...in a windy, twisty, curvy sort of way.

Radioactive: A Tale of Love and Fallout

I was aimlessly perusing the bookstore a few days ago when this book jumped out at me. I sat down and read the entire thing right there. It was beautiful. Everything about it. The images, the story, the science,  the writing. And it made me start thinking about education and how I probably would have felt very differently about science and history had they been presented to me like this.

Grand Canyon March 2011

A few of my favorite photos from an incredible rafting trip in the Grand Canyon this March. I am so unbelievably lucky to have had the opportunity to spend nearly a month with an amazing group of people in one of our planets most majestic and beautiful natural wonders.

Gogol Bordello - Pala Tute

I miss the days of funky, creative music videos. I know they still get made but I think the music video industry saw it's heyday in the 80s and 90s. Unless there's some underground world that I don't know about?

Here's Pala Tute by my favorite band, who happens to put on the best live show ever. Period. If you haven't seen Gogol Bordello, add it to your bucket list.
